Veterflix (veterflix.com), a service provided by medical edtech company ThreeD Medivision (CEO Kim Ki-jin), will hold abdominal ultrasound training on February 18 (Sun).

This abdominal ultrasound training will be conducted by Professor Yoon Hak-young of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Chonbuk National University, and a total of 12 participants will be recruited.

A total of 3 hours of pre-theory lecture VOD will be provided before the training, and on the day of the training, liver/spleen/kidney/adrenal gland/ovary/uterus/bladder/prostate/urethra/pancreas/gastrointestinal tract/lymph node wet-lab will be conducted. Since you can listen to the theory lecture in advance, you can practice enough for the whole day.

In particular, ultrasound demonstration videos are provided separately for 30 days after the lab. It will be a good opportunity to complete the learning through free review.

The wet-lab is conducted with an IACUC-approved beagle lab dog, and the ultrasound equipment is supported by JIN Medical (a Samsung Medical distributor).

Betterflix’s ultrasound labs have been held seven times in the past year, with more than 100 veterinarians and veterinary students attending. Participants expressed great satisfaction with the lab, saying, “The lab environment was very comfortable,” “The lectures were well organized,” “The lab time was not short, and I was able to learn intensively for a long time,” “The professors and instructors provided close guidance throughout the lab,” and “I was satisfied with the free Q&A and immediate feedback on the lab.”

Veterflix’s offline training is held at the Veterflix Global Training Center (VGTC), a veterinary clinical training center in Songdo, Incheon.

The small class size allows students to receive immediate feedback from the lead instructor and instructors and to practice in a realistic environment.

This hands-on echocardiography training is open to junior veterinarians and veterinary students. The training will be conducted in groups of three.

Introduction

This partnership aims to provide comprehensive services for market entry in Japan, including market promotion, sales and marketing, and consulting.

3DMedivision, a medical edu-tech company, has announced the signing of an agent contract with Vector Inc. to enter the medical 3D video education content market for Japanese veterinarians and humans. This partnership aims to provide comprehensive services for market entry in Japan, including market promotion, sales and marketing, and consulting.

Body: Through this contract, 3DMedivision will expand its presence in the Asian medical education market, following its success in the United States. The company will offer various services, including the veterinary surgery education video content platform ‘Veterflix’, practical education services, medical consulting services using ‘PDRN’, and the surgical education content platform for human medicine, ‘Surgflix’.

Vector, Japan’s leading marketing agency, will leverage its expertise in advertising planning, management consulting, promotional marketing, sales and distribution, and venture investment to support 3DMedivision’s efforts. With its extensive overseas network and in-depth understanding of the Asian market, Vector is well-positioned to facilitate the company’s success in Japan.

Japan’s veterinary industry comprises 17 veterinary universities and approximately 40,000 veterinarians, double the size of Korea’s industry (10 veterinary colleges and 20,000 veterinarians). The recent introduction of the “Animal nurse” national certification system has further increased the demand for tests and medical education to complete the curriculum and obtain certificates. Moreover, Japan places a high value on professional veterinarians with international certifications, particularly as various clinical sites such as animal hospitals, pet prevention medical centers, and pet oriental medicine treatments continue to advance and diversify.

Given these factors, 3DMedivision intends to collaborate with Vector to achieve significant results in the Japanese market, often referred to as the ‘Pet’s Heaven’.

A vector official remarked, “The Japanese pet market is valued at 16 trillion won, 3.5 times that of Korea, and the number of animal hospitals in Japan is comparable to the number of convenience stores, showcasing the industry’s systemic nature.” He further stated, “Through Vector’s excellent communication skills and efficient cooperation, we plan to enhance 3DMedivision’s competitiveness in the Japanese market.”

Conclusion

The partnership between 3DMedivision and Vector Inc. represents a strategic move into the Japanese medical 3D video education content market. With Vector’s support and expertise, 3DMedivision aims to make a significant impact and cater to the growing demand for professional veterinary education in Japan’s thriving pet industry.

Veterflix (veterflix.com), serviced by 3D MediVision (CEO Kijin Kim), a medical edu-tech company, and Seoul National University’s department of anesthesiology and pain management collaborated to host a clinical hands-on course.

The training was held at Songdo VGTC on May 29 (Sun).

The “Veterflix Global Training Center (VGTC)” for veterinary clinical practice education shelters an environment similar to real medical sites such as operating rooms, labs, and conference halls. It boasts a 800㎡ sized wet-lab facility including real-time 3D relay equipment which allows trainees to perform surgery or ultrasound while watching 3D images of demonstrations.

The course taught on this day was “Anesthesia: Let’s do it right!” by Professor In-hyung Lee of Seoul National University. The 1 day course began with a theory lecture that eventually led to dry and wet-lab practice. The wet-lab portion was approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).

Participants studied the basic concepts of veterinary anesthesia, the structure and use of inhalation anesthesia equipment, how to use ventilators, ECG, Pulse, Pulse Oximetry, Artificial Wave, Capnography, and Spirometry, while they practiced patient soothing, anesthesia introduction, intubation, anesthesia maintenance, and anesthesia depth assessment.

The wet-lab was divided into four groups, and professors and veterinarians from the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at Seoul National University College of Veterinary Medicine were deployed in groups to assist the trainees. A variety of veterinarians, from intern veterinarians who had just graduated from veterinary colleges to heads of animal hospitals, participated in the program.

“As it is our first clinical anesthesia hands-on course, we worked hard to prepare a hands-on course that cannot be experienced anywhere else,” Veterflix said. “We will hold various hands-on courses in different fields of veterinary medicine such as surgery, orthopedics, radiology, and dentistry at VGTC in the future.”

Despite the spread of COVID-19, the companion animal industry (Petconomy) is growing rapidly. From people who spend leisure time with their pets at home, to single-person households and elderly households, the industry stays growing. Particularly in Asia, where the elderly group is growing faster in relation to global trends, the companion animal market is expected to surge.

With advances in veterinary medicine, the lifespan of companion animals is also increasing. In the past, 15 years of age was considered longevity, but recently, the average life expectancy is 15 years and the expected life expectancy is 20 years. An increase in the number of elderly companion animals leads to an increase in medical costs. According to the American Pet Association (APA), surgery costs accounted for 28% of the annual support costs for dogs and cats. It was followed by pet food (21%) and regular checkups (16%).

There is a startup attracting attention due to the increase in demand for medical care for companion animals. 3D MediVision, a company specializing in 3D (three-dimensional) veterinary education contents, is pushing for listing on the KOSDAQ this year.

Implemented as Educational Resource in 7 out of 10 Veterinary Medicine Schools… Grand Opening of Asia’s Largest Veterinary Training Center

Founded in 2011, 3DMediVision is the first in the world to apply 3D imaging systems to produce veterinary educational content. VGTC (Veterflix Global Training Center), which opened in Songdo, Korea in November last year, is Asia’s largest veterinary training facility where 60 people can practice hands-on directly in the operating room and 132 people can receive 3D video training at the same time.

3D MediVision created 3D contents for veterinary anatomy education with Seoul National University’s and Konkuk University’s Veterinary Department as well as with Korean Society of Professors for Veterinary Anatomy, and currently 7 out of 10 domestic veterinary departments use it. In addition, training programs for veterinarians and animal health workers, which will be implemented from this month, have been completed. Currently, there are a total of 460 educational contents, of which 46 are also serviced in the global market.

CEO Kijin Kim explained that the educational contents and VGTC’S facilities exceed the level of the American educational curriculum with a veterinary specialist system. This is because it consists of various content subjects such as canine anatomy, canine anesthsia, MRI (Magnestic Resonance Imaging) and ultrasound examination, orthopedic surgery, and dentistry.

CEO Kim stated, “We have built the first veterinary platform in South Korea that can be utilized by not only veterinarians, but also veterinary students and animal health practitioners. We made it possible to visualize muscles and nerves in vivid 3D images that used to be difficult to observe due to low supply of cadavers for anatomy education. It most definitely improves the quality of education.”

Skyrocketing Interest from China & South East Asia

Veterinary medical equipment companies and overseas veterinarians recognized this outstanding content production and VGTC’s facility first. As the number of elderly companion animals increases, the demand for microsurgery (precision surgery) using a microscope increases, but there is no proper educational facility to teach these skills. Due to this, although VGTC has been open for only two months, reservations have already been made from 20 domestic and 6 overseas locations. 3D MediVision allows veterinarians to review their training videos online at any time after they have been trained at VGTC.

CEO Kim said, “3D MediVision provides education at a price that is up to a third of that of the United States. We’re getting a lot of educational requests from Chinese and South East Asian veterinarians who often struggle with long flights and jetlag just to have access to this type of education” He added, “We have also received proposals from medical equipment companies to make VGTC a certification-providing training center in Asia.”

The fact that 3DMediVision’s contents were recognized by the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB) is also adding fuel to its potential global success. In the United States, continued education is mandatory for veterinarians to renew their license.

3D MediVision obtained RACE approval for some of its content on the Global version of Veterflix, a veterinary education video platform, from AAVSB of the United States in September last year. A total of 19 contents have been approved to provide CE-credits including Konkuk University Animal Hospital Director, Dr. Hun-young Yoon’s, ‘Gastrotomy’ lecture.

CEO Kim said, “This year, we are actively informing the American veterinary market about the necessity of 3D education. In the latter half of the year, we expect to service English, Japanese, and Chinese versions of more Veterflix content.”

3D MediVision’s VGTC in Songdo, Korea.

Content Advancement through National AI Project

3DMediVision was selected as a data voucher support company hosted by the Korea Data Industry Promotion Agency last year, and is upgrading educational contents with artificial intelligence (AI) technology. They plan to develop a system that automatically translates veterinary terms into various languages through AI.

CEO Kim said, “In order to service the produced content in overseas markets, it is necessary to change the veterinary terms into the languages of each country we service. When the task is completed, the content can be searched in various languages, and the captions displayed in the video would also be shown in the corresponding language.”

He continued, “In the future, we plan to develop a system so that AI can transcribe what the lecturer is saying and automatically translate it into subtitles. Also, based on securing content IP (intellectual property rights), expanding the VGTC business, and entering the global market, we will speed up the listing on the KOSDAQ.”

‘Surgery & Ultrasound while simultaneously watching 3D demonstration’

3D MediVision, a company that has been supplying online veterinary education content through the service of Veterflix, has expanded its education platform to an offline clinical practice facility.

3D MediVision established “VGTC (Veterflix Global Training Center)” for full-fledged clinical practice training for veterinarians.

VGTC is equipped with a wet-lab facility including real-time 3D broadcasting equipment so that surgery or ultrasonography can be performed directly while watching 3D images of the demonstration.

3D MediVision’s VGTC: Includes infrastructure that allows 3D filming, live broadcasting all while providing surgical equipment and clinical practice opportunities

Surgical training through real time surgeon’s view of demonstration

Cooperation of KNOTUS allows wet-lab cadaver supply

3D MediVision’s VGTC has created an environment similar to real medical sites such as operating rooms, laboratories, and conference halls in a space that scales more than 800㎡.

The operating and practice rooms are equipped with advanced surgical equipment and 3D video broadcasting equipment. It is also equipped with surgical beds for up to 15 students to conduct wet-labs at the same time.

While the lecturer demonstrates surgery, students can check the lecturer’s movements through real-time 3D video. It is a structure in which students can check the demonstration of the surgeon while participating in clinical surgical practice at the same time.

The conference hall located right next to it has seating for 130 people. In addition to supplementary lectures, surgery performed in the laboratory in the next room can be broadcast live in 3D in the conference hall.

One of the reasons why it is difficult for veterinarians to receive clinical practice training is that it is difficult to obtain a cadaver, which is oftentimes the subject of practice. This is because the price of legally verified experimental dogs exceeds 1.5 million won (approx. 1,400 USD), and other methods such as donated patients’ bodies are not widely available.

3D MediVision plans to overcome these limitations through a cooperative system with non-clinical CRO KNOTUS. This is possible by securing experimental animals for clinical practice from the non-clinical tests conducted by KNOTUS.

KNOTUS previously participated as a strategic investor in 3D MediVision. VGTC is also located on the fourth floor of the Incheon office building of KNOTUS.

“VGTC has established a comprehensive infrastructure from 3D educational content production, online and offline high-tech education, all the way to supply of experimental animals,” a 3D MediVision official said, “We will provide a global environment for experts to acquire the latest technology and knowledge through total solutions optimized for medical education.”

VGTC plans to promote four projects, including live surgery education using: 1. 3D videos 2. hands-on courses, one-on-one practical education 3. providing seminar and conference solutions hosted by businesses, societies, and associations 4. combined training of online webinars to offline clinical practice training.

General surgery, orthopedic surgery, as well as ultrasound practice, can be trained at VGTC. 3D MediVision plans to open its first practical training program by the end of this year and provide official formal education beginning next year.

Lectures and surgery demonstrations can be broadcast in the conference hall

Expanding contents for remote practical training into “Meta-Edu-verse”

“Starting with the opening of VGTC, we plan to start a ‘Meta-Edu-verse’ business that allows effective education beyond time and space constraints,” said 3D Medivision.

Most remote education is still limited to one-way video viewing, but the plan for the future is to establish a system that can teach the entire veterinary treatment process on the “meta-verse” platform.

3D MediVision also emphasizes that 3D video educational content, which they are expanding in quantity and quality, is suitable for VR-based services as well.

A company official said, “We have already produced veterinary anatomy training as 3D video content and are supplying it to local veterinary colleges,” he added, “We will also start overseas expansion in earnest, in the near future.”

3D MediVision succeeded in attracting 10 billion won (8.5 million USD) worth of accumulated investment, spurring preparations for getting listed on the KOSDAQ next year.

As the global edu-tech market, which is in the spotlight as a remote-learning trend sparked from COVID-19, is expected to grow to 400 trillion won (340 million USD) by 2025. Some of Veterflix’s lecture contents have already been approved for training in continued education from the American Association of Veterinary State Boards.

CEO Kim emphasized, “3D MediVision will leap into the “meta-verse” platform that will allow clinical practice training through collaboration with various domestic and foreign educational institutions.”

While the ‘Untact Edutech (distant learning+technology)’ industry is becoming a future education paradigm that can solve the crisis of public education caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, 3D MediVision is speeding up its entry into the global edutech market.

3D MediVision announced on the 1st of September that the global version of the veterinary education video platform, “VeterFlix”, using their 3D imaging system, has obtained approval from RACE (Registry of Approved Continuing Education) which is organized by the AAVSB (American Association of Veterinary State Boards).

RACE is an institution that approves training courses to be able to offer CE-Credits. RACE catalogs veterinarian training programs jointly promoted by the United State’s representative veterinary board, AAVSB, and a number of veterinarian associations, which allows veterinarians to meet the criteria for license renewal by completing RACE approved training.

3D MediVision recently received RACE approval for the first time in Korea for the English version of “Gastrotomy” by Dr. Heon-young Yoon, professor of veterinary medicine at Konkuk University, a signature surgery lecture by VeterFlix. Global VeterFlix is proceeding to get all of its package contents RACE approved. Once RACE approves Global VeterFlix’s English veterinary surgical education videos, veterinarians can obtain CE-Credits for license renewal by taking and completing the courses on Global VeterFlix.

3D MediVision is listed as a content provider for RACE accredited content and CE-Credit offering, and its entry into the global medical edutech market as well as the U.S. market is promising.

3D MediVision is the first medical edutech company in Korea and the world to provide educational surgical contents for veterinarians by using 3D imaging systems. It has developed and produced professional cameras optimized for surgical education.

In particular, 3D MediVision’s surgical cameras are highly regarded for their technology as they can implement Surgeon’s View (point of view of the surgeon) that can secure bright visibility even in deep and narrow areas. This can help with clear understanding of anatomical structures that are impossible with a regular camera, and producing content that can be rehearsed to add educational value.

Currently, 3D MediVision is supplying Vet TV and more than 20 3D Canine E-Anatomy contents on VeterFlix. It is also expanding its business to overseas markets such as the U.S., Japan, China , and India, starting with the official launch of the international version of VeterFlix, Global VeterFlix in August.

3D Medivision plans to leap to achieve the title “Netflix for Veterinarians” by targeting the veterinary content market, which is emerging as a blue ocean following the rapidly growing pet market growth worldwide.

To this end, 3D Medivision is planning to build a training center in Korea. “Veterflix Global Training Center (VGTC)”, which is being established in Songdo, is scheduled to be completed in September. The retraining center plans to develop into an “on-and-off-line, integrated medical training center” that provides a global-level educational environment and services to domestic and foreign medical professionals to acquire the latest treatment technologies and skills.

VGTC is expected to create an environment similar to medical sites such as conference halls, labs, and operating rooms to increase educational immersion and establish advanced AV facilities and equipment for effective education, practice and acquisition. ▲Audio-visual video training that delivers the same surgical view as the veterinary surgeon through real-time 3D TV using 3D video equipment designed for surgery ▲ 1-on-1 or 1-on-N Hands-on Courses ▲ webinar systems to combine training programs online, offline, etc. ▲ Conferences or seminars hosted by companies, organizations, associations ▲ Rental services for those in need of in-person meeting locations.

A company official claims, “VGTC plans to become an infrastructure that is optimized for medical education such as supply, storage, disposal of cadavers (for clinical practice), which are the most important in practical training practices.”

3D Medivision has already succeeded in attracting 10 billion Korean won worth of investment in recognition of its potential corporate value. After receiving Series A investments from leading venture capitals and other institutional investors in 2016, as well as attracting Series B investments from KOSDAQ-listed companies “KNOTUS” and strategic investors (SI) last year.

In addition, 3D Medivision has finished selecting a company for this year’s IPO and is preparing to enter the KOSDAQ market.

“With the launch of Global VeterFlix and the establishment of ‘VGTC’, we have set the stage for becoming a global company. We will grow into a comprehensive medical technology company that dominates the global market with the technology we possess,” said Kim Ki-jin, CEO of 3D Medivision. <The End>.
